Skervia
« on: January 21, 2020, 04:16:29 PM »

The Skervia are a "subspecies" of zombies, unique to the Barren Tips. How they originated, and for what purpose, has been lost in the mists of time, but one thing is very clear. The Skervia hold a clear and enduring enmity for the denizens of Alderworth. Or perhaps to its ruler and her family. Who can say? But what is known is that the Skervia have attacked Alderworth twice in the past and, at some point in the future, as sure as the sun rises and sets, the Skervia will attack again.

Though numbered among the undead, the Skervia have many unique qualities. For one, they only seem to take their numbers from humans, and no other species. And how they do this is unknown, as their ranks did not swell from the fallen during their two attacks on Skervia.

One theory is that the Skervia "reproduce" by means of "consuming" magic, and that they are drawn to large magical "events." If this is true, then it may explain their hostility toward Alderworth, as it would be something akin to a starving man being kept away from a buffet in clear sight.

The Skervia run the full gambit in sizes that are seen in humanity. There are no Skervian 'children.' which begs many questions, since the Skervia have been seen killing children. Skervia skin is pale and, at least during battle, they cover their exposed skin with white paint, to accentuate their paleness. In addition, the Skervia wear painted masks during battle.

The Skervia, unlike other zombies, move swiftly, and are at home in daylight or in darkness. Or, at least, they seemed to be so when they attacked Alderworth. And the Skervia are not mindless creatures. This they are definitely not. They attack in coordinated fashion, communicate with each other in some fashion or another and, though they often attack without weapons, have been known to kill one warrior, pick up their weapon and continue the attack with the captured weapon. And though they have never demonstrated any talent with siege engines (as f yet), they have shown great ingenuity with digging tunnels and sapping walls.

Although the Skervia have been known to use melee weapons, their most fearful weapons are their teeth and claws, both of which can take great gouges out of their victim's flesh, and also can infect their victim with a fast acting flesh eating bacteria. The Skervia are impervious to blunt weapons and projectiles, as well as cold based attacks. Electrical based attacks only rejuvenate a Skervia. They are susceptible, however, to flame based attacks, as well as spells and abilities specifically attuned to attacking the undead.

Points of interest to keep in mind:
  • They are a tribe
  • They are undead, yet can think clearly for themselves
  • They are hostile
  • They react to large amount of magic
  • They all got a tribal mask, they got white paintings over their body

How exactly do they react to large amounts of magic? Are they drawn to it? Repulsed by it? Draw strenght from it? Something else?

Basically they are drawn to a large impulse of magic. As in... eat the source to evolve. That’s how the second invasion happens, they wanted the viscountess

How's this, then?
